Privacy policy

The blog Le Prompt (leprompt.tech) is published by Mathieu Moquin, based in the greater Montreal area (Quebec). This policy explains what personal information is collected, why, for how long, and what your rights are under Quebec'sAct respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector (Law 25).

What is collected

  • Newsletter: email address, if you subscribe voluntarily. Processing is handled by Brevo (Sendinblue).
  • Audience measurement: aggregated stats via Cloudflare Web Analytics (page views, performance). This tool does not use advertising cookies and does not fingerprint visitors. It only runs with your consent.
  • Anti-spam protection: Google reCAPTCHA may run when you use the subscription form (technical data sent to Google under its own policy).
  • Site preferences: theme (light/dark), text size, and cookie-consent choice, stored locally in your browser (essential storage for the site to work as intended).
  • Hosting technical logs: the host (Netlify) and network (Cloudflare, where applicable) may log technical data (IP address, user agent) for security and reliability.

Purposes

  • Send the newsletter when you subscribe (and only for that purpose).
  • Understand site audience and performance (with consent).
  • Protect the form against automated abuse.
  • Remember display and consent preferences.
  • Keep the site secure and available.

Consent

Newsletter signup relies on explicit consent (submitting the form). Non-essential audience measurement starts only after you choose Accept in the banner. You can refuse as easily as you accept, and change your choice anytime via Manage cookies in the footer.

Some of this processing may involve hosting or access outside Quebec. Collection is limited to what is needed, using established providers.

Retention

  • Newsletter email: until you unsubscribe or ask for deletion.
  • Cloudflare analytics: aggregates per the service retention (no user profile on this site).
  • Browser preferences: until you clear them locally.
  • Hosting logs: per Netlify / Cloudflare policies.

Your rights

You may request access to your information, have it corrected, or withdraw consent (for example by unsubscribing). You may also file a complaint with theCommission d'accès à l'information du Québec.

Security

Reasonable measures are in place (HTTPS, professional hosting, restricted admin access). No system is perfect; if an incident presents a risk of serious harm, the notices required by law will be sent.

Children

This site is not directed at people under 14. No voluntary collection targets that audience.

Changes

This policy may be updated. The date at the top of the page shows the version in force.
